How It Works
Newsift is fully automated. No human editors choose stories or shape coverage. Instead, disclosed machine rules decide what gets published based on evidence strength and verifiability.
- Collect — We monitor a wide range of public sources — official records, government publications, public filings, and established news feeds — to identify events as they emerge.
- Verify — Every factual claim is checked against available evidence before publication. We require independent confirmation and prefer primary documents. Opinions, speculation, and single-source claims are excluded.
- Rank — Stories are scored by a fixed formula that prioritises evidence quality over attention. Raw coverage volume is deliberately the weakest signal so that popularity cannot become a hidden editorial bias.
- Publish — Articles are generated from the verified evidence only. Every statement carries attribution, and each article includes an audit trail showing how it met our publication criteria. We prefer being late over publishing anything unverified.
When new evidence contradicts a published article, it is automatically flagged for correction. All changes are versioned with a full audit trail.
